Alyson Blake is now a social worker for abused mother's and their children, she came from an abusive childhood home herself, and wanted to help other's get out of a bad situation, she wanted to make a difference. Her father was a heavy drinker, and often beat her mother, breaking bones, and if he didn't calm down he would go after Alyson. She had only one person at that time that was a friend to her, and knew everything that was going on in her home. She looked at Jamison Weston as her guardian angel, always climbing through her bedroom window when he heard her mother's cries, pleading with her husband to stop hurting her. He would comfort Alyson, and often laid in bed with her, just holding her, and promising to always protect her.
Jami didn't come from an ideal home himself. He wasn't wanted by his parents, and he became a troubled teen. Petty robbery was his way of acting out against being unwanted. Before his 18th birthday, he was arrested for robbing a convenience store, and Alyson watched helplessly as he the police put him in handcuffs, and took him away, after which he spent a week in juvenile hall. By the time he turned 18 he ran away from home, with friends, and without being able to get a job, he started selling drugs as way to at least eat. One night when he went to meet one of his buyers, who was late, he was standing in front of a bar, and a drunk came out, and started yelling in Jami's face, which didn't sit well with him, he always had a bad temper, and was always quick with his hands. Jami started beating the man, , when the man's friends came out of the bar, they jumped Jami, but they couldn't stop him. One man in the crowd stepped up, and stopped Jami from hitting the man, and told him that he had promise. The man's name was Don, and he was now his boxing trainer, training him to become a lightweight champion.
Olivia and Alyson became friends in high school, but Alyson never told her about her home life, and never told her why she chose the field she worked in to Olivia. Alyson felt that life was behind her, she had her own apartment and didn't bother with her parents anymore. One night Olivia called her and told her to get dressed really sexy, they were going out but she didn't tell her where they were going. She picked her up in a cab, and they pulled up to an arena. At first Alyson thought they were going to a concert, until they stepped out into the arena, and Alyson's stomach turned as she watched the two men hitting each other. After the first fight Alyson thought that it was over, but then Olivia told her the main event was about to start. When the first man came out Alyson's heart almost stopped, it couldn't be not after all these years, it couldn't be her Jami, getting ready to fight in the rink. Then the announcer of the fight announced Jami's name, Jamison "The Judge," Weston. She couldn't believe her eyes when he took his shirt off, and revealed the rippling muscles of his body. He was just as handsome as ever.
Spencer was a long time friend of Jami's, and was now part of his crew. Besides helping him to prepare for the fight, he also arranged for the after parties. Don didn't like him, he didn't trust him, he especially didn't like the after parties, where there was too much alcohol, and loose women, Don didn't have a say so in this part of Jami's life, he called the shots from here. Jami won the fight by a TKO, and as Olivia and Alyson were getting ready to leave, Spencer taped Alyson on the shoulder to join the party. Alyson hesitated, in fact she was getting ready to say no, but Olivia jumped in and said yes for them both. Spencer gave them a business card with the name and room number on the back and told them to give it to the front desk woman who would let them into the suite.
When they arrived at the party Alyson searched the room for Jami, her eyes finding him sitting with women on both sides of him. Once he realized that one of them couldn't have been more than 17, and not even old enough to be the party, he turned his attention to other one. Then Spencer pointed out the Olivia and Alyson to him, and Jami excused himself, and walked with the Spencer to the two girls. Olivia took the lead when Jami and Spencer approached them, and introduced them both by their first names only. Jami didn't appear to recognize Alyson at all, which at first hurt her, but she realized how many years had passed, once she had a chance to talk to him alone she told him who she really was, and he was pleasantly surprised.
This book is very well written, and has a lot more detail to it, then I just gave to you. It grabbed me in from the beginning and moves along quickly. I highly recommend this book, as well as the book two to this series, named, "Tapout." This book isn't a stand alone, so purchasing the second part isn't a bad idea. Happy reading and I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I do.
This is one great MMA romance story. How can it not be with a sexy fighter like Jami? I will admit that it took me a little bit to get into the story. But by the time I was done, I couldn't wait to start book 2. Lucky for me, I had it on my .

There were a few scenes that I found myself skimming through a page or two. There were times Alli seemed a little weaker than I would have thought. Given her past, I completely understood it, I just like the strong and confident version of her better.

I did love their story. Jami was her protector for years. Now, years later, he gets to do it all over again. Their story tug at my heart strings. This is one book you will want to read as soon as you can.
This was a great story. A sexy fighter series with the main characters having some serious chemistry.
Jamison Weston grew up protecting Alyson Blake from her abusive father. Sneaking into her room at night to keep her safe while her mother took the beatings. When Alyson’s dad one night crosses the line and comes after Alyson, Jami steps in and finds himself arrested. Separated by that one fateful night, Ally has decided to trust no one but herself. When a chance meeting connects her back with Jami, the sparks are still there and Jami will still do anything to protect Ally and win her trust. And her heart.
If you like MMA fighter stories this is a great series for you. It’s well written and the characters felt real. You can’t help but fall in love with Jami. He’s sexy, tough, and absolutely devoted to Ally. Ally took her struggles in childhood and turned them into her career to help protect other women from what her mother went through. Together these characters create some steamy scenes. But alas, there is a cliffhanger. One that will have you one-clicking the next story. Thank you JC Valentine for a truly enjoyable story.

Not being the first novel i've read by J.C. Valentine, i was excited to get my hands on another book of hers. I doubt i could have picked a better one than Knockout, the story about Alyson and Jamieson. Two individuals that so many have given up on them - one because she lives on the wrong side of the tracks, and the other because of his temper that leads him to jail. The moment they shared a kiss, Alyson knew Jamieson was the one for her and it's not until a chance meeting after he's released that they can finally know just what and how they're meant to be together.

4.5 sexy dreams

I absolutely loved the fact that these two are relatable and their mannerisms something that looks/sounds lifelike (that is to say, not exaggerated and something from people i would meet on the street). J.C. Valentine knows how to draw you in and make you want to keep reading no matter what else there is to do around the house or life. The chemistry between Alyson and Jamieson is something to make anyone envious and i can't wait to find out how their story ends.
